About Us
Our Mission
Piedmont Council of the Arts exists to sustain the arts as an essential part of the high quality of life in the Charlottesville area.
PCA’s vision is to serve as a nexus for all things arts-related in our community. To build this nexus, we provide services with and for artists, arts organizations, and arts educators, and we help them serve the community at large by liaising with local and state government entities.
Our programs and services encourage access to and awareness of creative and cultural experiences. Piedmont Council of the Arts:
- Promotes artists, arts organizations, and cultural events in the region by providing web-based resources, hosting celebratory arts events, and co-sponsoring community cultural events and projects.
- Coordinates programs in partnership that educate citizens about the arts, increase access to the arts, and provide forums that address arts-related issues in our community.
- Advocates for the arts by creating a unified voice to encourage arts support at local, state, and national levels and by drawing connections between the arts and community.
A 501c3 nonprofit organization, PCA was founded in 1979 and has evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of Central VA’s arts community.
