Led by Sam Bush, Charlottesville’s The Hill and Wood has shifted from their folk-pop roots and integrated themselves into a multifaceted and stratified sound that incorporates chamber-pop melodies and symphonic swells. The band’s songwriting deftly communicates the anxieties of expectation and the malaise of the modern identity, all the while uncovering rare and unexpected moments of relief.
This performance launches the band on a tour to introduce themselves to the rest of the country. The new album was recorded at Haunted Hollow Studios, Christ Episcopal Church, and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, as well as the Montana Cabin in Waynesboro. Admission is $10 and also includes a CD of the new album.
