Piedmont Council of the Arts has summer internships available for 2010! Join our team in Studio 22 of McGuffey Art Center to support PCA’s efforts to increase access to and awareness of the arts in the Charlottesville area. Summer interns must be able to commit 10-15 hours per week to PCA, at least half of which must be in-office time. Internships typically begin in late May and last through late August, but intern schedules can be flexible.

Arts Education Handbook Manager
PCA seeks candidates for the Education Handbook Manager position. This is an unpaid internship for college students and recent graduates with an interest in arts administration and/or arts education.
The Arts Education Handbook Manager will be responsible for gathering information for our annual publication, the Community Arts Education Handbook, which provides a comprehensive list of all area artists and arts organizations offering arts learning opportunities for K-12 groups. This position involves organized and detailed communication with arts education providers, extensive writing and editing work, and coordinating with PCA board members and pro bono designers to create and finalize the 2010-11 publication.
Requirements include: attention to detail, communication and organizational skills, design sensibility, computer and web proficiency, ability to think creatively and strategically. Strong interpersonal skills and self-starter attitude are a must. Familiarity with the arts community, graphic design skills a plus.

Project Archivist
PCA seeks candidates for a new Project Archivist unpaid summer internship position. The Project Archivist will be responsible for managing the organization and presentation of PCA’s programmatic information, including past and future projects; archiving past program information in FileMakerPro database; managing electronic and print archival processes; and gathering and tabulating program participant feedback.
Requirements include: attention to detail, communication and organizational skills, ability to think creatively and strategically, design sensibility, Mac computer and web proficiency.
