PCA Celebrates Women in the Arts: Sian Richards

Sian Richards, Performing Artist & Arts Organizer

Sian Richards was born in Swansea, Wales and raised in rural Virginia. After studying theatre performance at Virginia Commonwealth University, she began performing in the Charlottesville area with Live Arts. After a stint in DC, Sian returned here and co-founded Performers Exchange Project (PEP) in 2005.

Now supported by PCA’s fiscal sponsorship program, PEP is in the process of raising funds for Our American Ann Sisters, an innovative play about female intellectuals in America.

In addition to her work with PEP, Sian has helped launch many of Charlottesville’s most daringly creative projects: The Dah Theatre residency, A Charlottesville Wunderkammer, Zelda & Lucia’s Loony Bin Tragedy, Shentai, CLAW, and Assembly. Through her new involvement with PCA, I’m excited to get to know more about Sian and her impressive body of work.
