PCA Celebrates Women in the Arts: Mariflo Stephens

Mariflo Stephens, Writer, Educator & Theater Artist

Here’s Mariflo Stephens, with quite a twinkle in her eye, hinting of her theater performances, including in Richard III at the Hamner Theater. She’s also an accomplished writer, commentator, and teacher.

Mariflo participates regularly in the Virginia Festival of the Book, has taught Rhetoric and Debate, read from her writings on the Oprah Show and Oxygen network, and been awarded two grants for fiction from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. She recently won the Sherwood Anderson prize for a short story.

For eleven years, Mariflo hosted the radio show “The Writers Corner” on WTJU, and she has been a columnist for Albemarle magazine, Iris: A Journal about Women, and Yarn Market News.

Who wouldn’t be inspired by such a multifaceted artist!
