Asha Greer, Painter & Teacher
Artist Asha Greer moved to central Virginia nearly 30 years ago after helping to found the Lama Foundation outside of Taos, New Mexico. She was instrumental in the creation of the Hospice of The Piedmont and worked with Lee Hartline in the 80′s on the Tibetan Resettlement Project.
At 75, she maintains a steady practice as a painter, teacher, and world traveler. When I asked her to name five of her biggest accomplishments, the first being her four daughters, she included “I’m happy for the fact that I have done a few paintings out of hundreds that I love.”
Asha’s other artistry comes in the medium of people. As a grandmother, teacher, (Asha teaches Sufi workshops worldwide as well as Japanese Tea Ceremony in the comfort of her own backyard) friend and mentor to many she inspires more laughter, joy and comfort in the hearts of those around her than anyone I have ever encountered.
Anyone who knows her would tell you the same – Asha herself is a work of art.
