Don’t miss the unique events next weekend at Piedmont Virginia Community College!
PVCC’s student art club presents Free Movie Friday on Friday, February 26 with a screening of Pirate Radio, a period comedy about an illegal radio station in the North Sea in the 1960s. Pirate Radio is about a band of rogue DJs that captivated Britain, playing the music that defined a generation and standing up to a government that, incomprehensibly, preferred jazz. The ensemble cast includes Michael Hadley, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Emma Thompson and Bill Nighy.
The following evening, the Fine Arts and Performance master class series continues, with a hip-hop class led by Michelle Hutcherson Cooper. The class will be held from 2-4pm on Saturday, February 27 on the Main Stage of the V. Earl Dickinson Building. Cost is $10 per student. Cooper is an instructor of dance at PVCC and has extensive experience teaching and choreographing for various schools and programs in Central Virginia. This master class will begin with an energetic warm-up followed by traveling exercises and conclude with a combination of old-school hip-hop and today’s hottest dance styles. Jazz shoes or sneakers are recommended. The class is open to all levels of dancers. For more information or to register for the class, call the PVCC Box Office at 434.961.5376 or visit PVCC Performing Arts online.
