Are you already looking forward to wandering art galleries on July 6 for First Friday? If so, consider stopping by a non-tradition venue for visual art: Angelo Jewelry on the Downtown Mall. There, you will see “Small World,” an exhibit of new landscape paintings by Steve Taylor.
Taylor is the director of the non-profit Second Street Gallery dedicated to contemporary art, as well as an artist and photographer. Taylor is also an associate member of McGuffey Art Center and an active participant in the local arts scene.
Originally from the coast of North Yorkshire in the UK and many of Taylor’s small landscapes are based on his memories of the UK coastline, the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and the County Kerry coast in the southwest of Ireland.
Taylor uses oil and oil pastel on paper to recreate landscapes from memory. All works exhibited at Angelo are from the past three years and will be on display from July 2 through August 31. The First Friday reception for “Small World” will happen from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
