Kid Pan Alley Concert
Sunday, March 14, 3:00pm
Join children from six schools in our community (Brownsville, Burnley-Moran, Jackson-Via, Johnson, Murray and Venable), Paul Reisler (the founder and leader of Trapezoid and the Kid Pan Alley children’s songwriting project), Terri Allard (Kid Pan Alley Charlottesville-Albemarle Project Director) and the Kid Pan Alley Band (John D’earth, Andy Waldeck, Nate Brown, Steve Van Dam, Mark Maynard) along with special guests: Trees on Fire, Charlie Pastorfield, Bob Girard, Ian Gilliam, Carleigh Nesbit, Carl Anderson and seniors from Mountainside Senior Living and the JABA community as they perform songs written during Kid Pan Alley residencies this school year, as well as songs from the Charlottesville-Albemarle Kid Pan Alley CD, “I Used to Know the Names of All the Stars.”
Joining students and professional musicians for a song will be community members from Mountainside Senior Living who participated in a Kid Pan Alley intergenerational residency at Brownsville Elementary School this past fall. The seniors will be performing a song they wrote based on stories shared with 5th graders.
The concert will be held at Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts Center at 1400 Melbourne Road. Tickets are $5 for children 12 and under; $10 for adults. They can be purchased online or at any of the following outlets: THe GAMe PLACe, Charlottesville Music, Heinz Musitronics, Trailside Coffee. Tickets will also be available at the MLKPAC Box Office the day of the concert. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Kid Pan Alley’s songwriting program in area schools.
