New City Arts, Piedmont Council for the Arts and the Virginia Arts of the Book Center have partnered to present a special evening with London’s The Henningham Family Press at Random Row Books on Monday, June 11.
David and Ping Henningham live and work in London. They write essays and poetry that are completed and reworked through fine art printmaking, bookbinding and performance events such as “The Chip Shop.”
Past collaborations include performing with Half-Handed Cloud (a band with strong ties to Sufjan Stevens) while making a glow-in-the-dark print as they went along for each audience member. Collections that have acquired their work include the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Tate, and UCLA. They have performed at hot spots including the BBC Radio Theatre and the London Word Festival.
There is a $5 cover, which gets you a seat and a screen-print to take home at the end of the workshop.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Random Row Books is located at 315 West Main Street. Join the event on Facebook!
