Futurebirds and Sarah White at The Southern

Futurebirds In the mood for some alt-country tonight? Then head over to The Southern for a concert with Futurebirds, Sarah White, and White Violet to get your fix.

Hailing from the bohemian college town of Athens, Georgia, Futurebirds play laid-back country-rock with an atmospheric, psychedelic twist. Stream some of their songs here. They rocked to rave reviews at Bonnaroo Music Festival and Austin City Limits last year.

Local alt-country singer-songwriter Sarah White‘s well-crafted and emotionally powerful music invites comparison to a wide spectrum of artists from Hazel Dickens and Chan Marshall to Jeff Tweedy. Her band features guitarist Ted Pitney formerly of the award-winning bluegrass group King Wilkie. Learn more about her at her website.

Opening the show is Nate Nelson, a native of Athens, Georgia, who has adopted the moniker White Violet to reflect the sonic and lyrical evolution of his most recent work.

Doors at 8:00pm and tickets cost $10.
