The 2012 Wintergreen Summer Music Festival is entering its final week, closing on Sunday, August 5. Seize the opportunity to hear music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Here are three events coming up.
Tonight, the Witkowski Piano Duo performs in the final installment of Wild Wednesdays, a concert series at the Evans Center at 7:30pm. Coming from similar musical backgrounds in their native country, Brazilian pianists Fabio and Gisele Witkowski have shared many stages around the world. They recently performed their debut piano duo recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. The New York Concert Review has described their playing as “showing marvelous rubato and tremendously clean playing with a lovely sense of tone.”
Tomorrow, on Thursday August 2 at 7:30pm, enjoy the final installment of Thrilling Thursdays at the Evans Center. Lucy Bowen McCauley, choreographer and Artistic Director, returns with a sequel to last year’s popular Lucy’s Playlist. This time around, it is Lucy’s Local Playlist, choreography inspired by the music of ten bands and artists from the Greater Washington, DC area. Be ready for a most eclectic mix of music!
Then, on Sunday August 5, at 3:00pm, take in a Classics V Concert at the Evans Center with a pre-performance talk with Larry Alan Smith. Works by Beethoven, Bruch, and Stravinsky will be performed.
Tickets for each separate event cost $25 for adults, $10 for ages 10-17, and free for children under 10. They are available for purchase online. For directions and more information, please visit the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival website.
