Screen shot 2013-08-29 at 10.12.44 AM Charlottesville and the surrounding Jefferson Area has been a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship and now it”s time to show off, make some noise, and have some raucous family fun!

The Charlottesville Mini Maker Faire will be held at Monticello High School (located at 1400 Independence Way in Charlottesville) on Saturday, October 12 from 10:00am-4:00pm.

Curious about what a maker is, exactly? Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA and in 2012 celebrated its seventh annual show with some 800 makers and 110,000 people in attendance. Maker Faire events inspired by Maker Faire are now being produced around the United States and the world, including Charlottesville.

If you are a maker, crafter, inventer, tinkerer, hacker or DIYer, you can participate in the Mini Maker Faire by submitting your own proposal.
