Call for Content: Create Charlottesville/Albemarle Implementation

In 2013, Piedmont Council for the Arts (PCA) coordinated the creation of Create Charlottesville/Albemarle, the first-ever cultural plan for our area. The cultural plan was unanimously approved by a 28-member Steering Committee in September 2013. By January 2014, the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County governments approved the plan and PCA implementation efforts kicked off with a public launch event at The Paramount Theater.

As the local administrative agency for the plan, PCA sees Create Charlottesville/Albemarle as a collaborative action plan that will inform and bolster the work of all local arts and culture organizations. To review the cultural plan and its six strategic goals, please visit charlottesvillearts.org/createcville.

With cultural plan implementation underway, PCA seeks to promote local initiatives aligned to cultural plan goals and encourage further community involvement. To this end, PCA is creating an online platform to share images, descriptions, and testimonials from local individuals and organizations participating in this ongoing work.

This online cultural plan platform will be officially launched in April 2014, but we are currently seeking content to share through it. If you or your organization is involved in an initiative that aligns with cultural plan goals, please send images, text, or quotes that document your work to outreach@charlottesvillearts.org. All content received will be considered for inclusion on PCA social media to promote and support community work related to cultural plan outcomes. Content that is used we be credited to the contributing organization or individual.
