Les Yeux du Monde (LYDM) hosts a closing reception for its current exhibition, “Bird-like Things in Things Like Trees,” on Sunday, August 19 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. This event is FREE and open to the public.
A collaboration between visual artist Rob Tarbell and composer Douglas Boyce, “Bird-like Things in Things Like Trees” was dreamed up in 2010 during an artist residency at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Auvillar, France. Both Boyce and Tarbell became captivated by a mysterious birdsong. Their failure to identify the bird became, in the words of the C-Ville Weekly “a kind of metaphor for their situation as strangers in a foreign land trying to figure out what people were saying and how to navigate an unfamiliar landscape.” Read the full review of the exhibit here.
Les Yeux du Monde is a contemporary art gallery located in Charlottesville. To stay up to date on LYDM openings and events, join their mailing list or become a fan of LYDM on Facebook.
