Arts Education Advocacy Presentation for School Leaders

August 4, 2008

We are very excited about this opportunity! Read on…

Piedmont Council of the Arts (PCA) makes arts education advocacy presentation for local school leaders. PCA will also distribute a recently created directory of arts education programs offered by area organizations to school groups during the 2008-09 year.

By highlighting the importance of arts education and providing information about local educational arts opportunities, PCA seeks to encourage principals and school officials to take leadership roles in expanding the presence of the arts in schools.

“The Arts on Board!” education advocacy presentations will be made for Charlottesville and Albemarle public school leaders at two meetings in the fall. In conjunction with the meetings, PCA will distribute a recently created directory of arts education programs offered by area organizations to school groups during the 2008-09 year. The directory will provide K-12 teachers with a single resource for area arts programs available to their classes, strengthening the connection between the arts community and area schools. PCA will update and distribute the directory annually and also keep a detailed listing of local arts education programs for schools on the calendar portion of its website, www.charlottesvillearts.org. PCA will ask school leaders to encourage the use of these valuable resources and make the arts a priority in their schools.
